How this is calculated

Method:we inflate today's monthly expense to your retirement age, then compute the corpus needed to sustain it through your life expectancy using a real-return annuity. The required monthly SIP solves the standard FV formula backwards.

For NPS Tier I: 60% of corpus is tax-free lump sum at 60, 40% must buy an annuity. Additional ₹50,000 deduction under 80CCD(1B) over and above 80C.

Estimates only. Actual returns depend on asset allocation and market conditions.

Frequently asked questions

How much retirement corpus do I need?

A common rule is 25–30× your annual expenses at retirement (the 4% safe-withdrawal idea), adjusted for inflation between now and your retirement age. The calculator inflates today's expenses to your retirement year and sizes the corpus accordingly.

How does inflation affect retirement planning?

Inflation erodes purchasing power — ₹50,000/month of expenses today could cost far more in 25 years. We grow your current expenses at your assumed inflation rate so the target corpus reflects real future costs.

What is NPS and should I use it?

The National Pension System is a low-cost, market-linked retirement scheme with extra tax benefits under Section 80CCD(1B). It can complement mutual-fund SIPs for retirement; the right mix depends on your tax bracket and risk appetite.
